This tutorial was created on June 18, 2005 and is the property of Bubbles' Psp; please do not remove this tutorial from my site unless you have permission from me to do so.  Psp groups are welcome to use any of my tutorials for their groups; I just ask that you don't store them in group archives or pass the tutorials through email; please provide a text link only to the tutorial.

This tutorial was created using Psp Version 8 but should be able to be created using other versions of Psp.

For this tutorial you will need the following:

 

Paint Shop Pro (Trial version)

Filter Factory Gallery E

Mask 1 here (First mask on row 1)

Mask 2 here (Second mask on row 1)

Tube and font of choice

 

Okay, let's get started on our tag!

 

1.  Open both masks and your tube is Psp; minimize your masks on your Psp workspace.  Grab your dropper tool and select two colors from your tube that you want to use on your masked background.  I'm using #7C9F4D for my foreground/stroke color and #7C6877 for my background/fill color. 

2.  Image/New Image 450w x 450h transparent background.

3.  Flood fill your new image with your background color.  Effects/Plugin Filters/Filter Factory Gallery E/Holy Cow using the default settings.

4.  Using your magic wand (tolerance 0, feather 0), click on the blue shape that goes across  your image (see screenshot below).  Flood fill this selection with your foreground color.  Selections/Select None.

5.  Layers/New Mask Layer/From Image.  Select the cdsign_mask412 from the Source Window using the settings shown below; invert mask data is checked.  Layers/Delete.  Merge Mask? Yes!  Layers/Merge/Merge Group.

6.  Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using the settings shown below.  

Vertical 3; Horizontal 3; Opacity 50; Blur 6; Color Black

7.  Layers/New Raster Layer. Flood fill this layer with your foreground color.  Effects/Plugin Filters/Holy Cow using the default settings; see settings in Step 3 if needed.  Using your magic wand, click on the blue shape that goes across your image to select.  Flood fill this selection with your background color.  Selections/Select None.

8.  Layers/New Mask Layer/From Image; select the cdsign_mask411 from the Source Window using the same settings as before.  Merge mask into layer?  Yes!  Layers/Merge/Merge Group.  Apply a drop shadow to this layer using the same settings as before in Step 6.  Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.

9.  Layers/Duplicate.  Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.  Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds using the settings below.

Width 2; Opacity 40; Color Black; Light from left/top is checked

Adjust/Sharpness/Sharpen.

10.  Image/Canvas Size 600w x 600h; click once on the center arrow and then click okay.

11.  There is a line under your mask that isn't supposed to be there (see example below).  Grab your eraser tool and erase that line.

12.  Layers/Duplicate.  X out (hide) your top layer and make the original tag layer the active layer.  Effects/Distortion Effects/Wave using the settings below:

Amplitude 2 for both horizontal/vertical displacement; wavelength 2 for both horizontal/vertical displacement; repeat is checked

13.  Effects/Distortion Effects/Punch with at strength of 35%. (If you are using a verion of Psp that does not have the punch effect, just click on your deformation tool and stretch out this mask layer so that it is a little wider and longer on all sides).  Effects/Distortion Effects/Wind using the settings below.

From Right; Wind Strength 100

14.  Lower the opacity of this layer to 68%.  Remove the x from your top layer and make it your active layer.  Adjust/Brightness and Contrast/Brightness-Contrast using the settings shown below;

Brightness -15; Contrast 15

15.  Restore your tube and go to Edit/Copy; you can close out the tube now.  go back to your masked tag image and Edit/Paste/Paste As New Layer.  Resize your tube if needed;  move your tube to the position you want it on your tag.  Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using the settings shown below:

Vertical 3; Horizontal -3; Opacity 64; Blur 12

16.  Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.  Move your tag up a little towards the top of the blank image so you will have room for your text.  Layers/New Raster Layer.

17.  Below are the settings that I used for my text:

Font Willow; Size 82; Stroke 2; Floating; Bold; Anti-alias checked

Type out your name and click okay; position your text where you want it on your tag.  Layers/Duplicate.  X out the copy of your text layer; make the original text layer the active layer.  Effects/Distortion Effects/Wave using the same settings as before in Step 12.  Next, go to Effects/Distortion Effects/Wind using the same settings as in Step 13.  Remove the X from the copy of the text layer and make it the active layer.  Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using the settings shown below:

Vertical 2; Horizontal 2; Opacity 75; Blur 7; Color Black

18.  Layers/Merge/Merge Visible.  Selections/Select All; Selections/Float.  Image/Crop to Selection.  Resize tag if needed and save in desired format.
